Bloodlust & Moonlight

my love for vampires

My intrtigue with Vampires has gone back to my childhood; somehwere in there was the Twilight craze. I myself had never read or watched the movies, but vampires being in the zeitgeist was just enough for me to get 'bitten' with a lasting obsession. I just think the concept is soo cool, and I adore that no two vampire stories have the exact same mythology/lore. Some sparkle in the sunlight, others burst into a puddle of blood!

Vampires, or vampiric creatures have been documented all throughout history, through many different cultures. But the true start of 'Modern Vampirism' as we know it began with the publishing of the first modern vamp novel,The Vampyre' by John Polidori in 1819. It became even more popular with the release of Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1897, remembered as possibly the most iconic vampire! Yet he is predated and also inspired by the novella Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu in 1872. Our lesbian queen! I am glad she has gotten more love in recent years
